A DOCUMENT ORDERING THE HANGING OF CHARLOTTE BRYANT, NB: There is no provenance relating to this item. It was amongst a large quantity of ephemera, books and pictures etc. consigned from a deceased estate. We do not believe it to be the original document but a later copy completed by hand.
"County of Dorset, At The assizes and Delivery of the Gaol holden at Dorchester of Dorset on Monday the twenty fifth day of May in the year of our Lord One Thousand Nine Hundred and thirty six before certain Justices of our Lord the King assigned to deliver His Gaol of the Prisoners therein being. Whereas at this present Session Gaol Delivery Charlotte Bryant is and stands convicted of felony Murder. It is thereupon Ordered and adjudged by this Court that the above named convict be hanged by the neck untill she be dead and then her body be buried within the precincts of the Parish in which she shall have been last confined after her said conviction. By The Court Snell Clark of assize"

Charlotte Bryant murdered her husband Frederick Bryant 39 by poisoning him with arsenic at Coombe, Sherbourne, Dorset on 22 December 1935. Thomas Pierrepoint was the executioner.
